[Fixed]lr-mame2000 custom control mapping
-
For the first time, there is some activity on a long-standing lr-mame2000 bug: control remappings and dip switch settings aren't saved.
I have put $5 on a bounty to resolve the issue. I thought I'd post here in case anyone else is motivated to pitch in: https://www.bountysource.com/issues/26363451-cfg-and-nvram-not-being-created

Bam! For the princely sum of $10, r-type took on the project.
Starting today the features that were affected by this bug, including custom controls, should start working as expected for anyone who rebuilds lr-mame2000 from source.

@markwkidd Nice, thanks.
What is the main reason for using lr-mame2000 vs lr-mame2003 ? -
Compatibility. Some games may just work better with the 2000 core. That being said I think on the pi3 advmame and fba and 2003 should take care of most games. Maybe Midway games will work better? shugs
But I do know the only thing keeping me from making a cocktail table out of my raspberry pi B+ was that i couldn't bring up the MAME menu..thus I couldn't change the dip switches to table mode on any of my roms. Which well..tanked the whole project lol
So yeah I am liking this news thanks soo much! :D
Advancemenu plus and the mngs for snaps makes for a small package...now where is my 4gb sd card....

okay I'm not the smartest fox in the hen house it seems....
it doesn't allow me to bring up the mame menu like in mame2003 core..
but you did say custom controls and being able to save the dip settings now..but umm..how to do it?? (and yes i compiled from source. (rasp pi3 and PC)

dang it, you're right. now there is another issue going on. I have written it up here: https://github.com/libretro/mame2000-libretro/issues/48

@akafox I know I've said this before, but the tab menu should be fixed now if you update lr-mame2000 from source.
Please let me know of your results if you have the chance to try.

@markwkidd works great so far :D
-
As of the latest mame2000 updates it is now possible to reassign the MAME 'Tab' menu to a different button.

Is this because you were limited by your romset to using just mame2000? I have been using cocktail mode in mame2003 and in AdvanceMAME on my cocktail system since the beginning.

No hardware limitation. I am referring to my Raspberry PI B+ Model 1. You are using a Raspberry PI B+ model 3. Everything works fine on the 3 using (mostly) advance mame 3.5 (I've been A-M one by one so far) A few I have on Final Burn Alpha because they work just a little better.

@akafox Hello.I am tryin to get this mame2000 controller config problem workin.I also have issues to save my config.i understand using the mame menue ,entering with tab in my keyboard.i also can change my controller config and play the the with it.but when i later restart a game with mame2000 ,its all gone again.so i found this topic and updated mame2000 with the source.but the peoblem stays, when i restart it,its all gone.did i forget something?all other emulations work, i changed it with retroarch and saved it when i exit the menue.
Or did i understand it wrong and it is still not possible to keep my configs saved?
