Rom renaming tool? Such a thing?
-
Hi,
Is there such a thing as a rom renaming tool?
I have a stack of roms that are named absolutely terrible such as uppercase and underscores etc ( I assume from the dos days?)
It makes them impossible to scrape.
Any suggestions?

@wizza Use a scraper that hashes the ROM to find the meta data instead of trying to match file names. sselph and UXS do this I believe.

I’ll try that. Thanks :D
I don’t suppose there is an option to rename them as it scrapes too is it?
They look horrible!
Such as..
A_NAME_OF_A_Game.whatever

An alternative could be a windows file renamer such as "Fatmatch". But the above suggestion seems like an even better solution.

@wizza There are options for renaming rules in both scrapers I mentioned. It won't actually rename the file, just the name that is displayed.

Perfect. Thanks :D

If you are still looking for a renaming tool, i use file renamer turbo

You don't necessarily have to rename all the files. If you use UXS it will scrape all the cover art and also create a gamelist.xml. That XML file should contain the proper meta data for your roms in it, which is what emulation station displays...
