      hey
i just got my brand new raspberry pi 3. of course the main thing i want to do with it is retropie.
my question is if there is any way to install retropie and the original os on same sd card? i want to use it for retropie and also for youtube and normal browsing.
how can i do it? and if i can't, can i just install retropie on 1 sd card, and the "noobs" on another sd card and just swap the two super easy?
      thank you.

@bluecrown I'll try to be brief as I am in a hurry. Please don't take my curtness as rudeness.
NOOBS is not an OS. It is an installation and partitioning tool. I going to assume you mean Raspbian, which is an OS. One designed specifically for the PI.
A desktop is not an OS. Again it's just another program that the OS runs that gives you a nice graphical interface. The default for Raspbian is called PIXEL. Within the desktop you can run GUI programs, move files by dragging and dropping and use a web browser. I assume this is what you mean.
Now, here's the deal. RetroPie is a collection of applications, utilities and scripts that are run by on OS, which is in fact Raspbian. So you have the OS if you have RetroPie.
Long story short, forget NOOBS, install RetroPie from the image available to download. Once all set up you can install the PIXEL desktop via RetroPie setup script. The desktop comes with a few browsers, the default is Chromium. You can also install KODI if you wish. Plus many many other great open source and proprietary programs.

@jonnykesh thank you for replying! helped me a lot to understand the "basics".
so i installed the resbian from noobs and was very disappointed from the youtube quality.. and after a quick google search i found out you cant really use youtube on your tv with raspberry pi.. its slutter and just un-watch-able in full screen. am i right with this statement?

if so, i will just install retropie and hope i will not get the same result like i got when i tried youtube..

@bluecrown RetroPie allows you to play games if you have the ROM files. Most of the classic arcade games as well as several generations of consoles run very nicely in emulation on the Pi. Newer systems emulated can easily reveal the performance limitations of the Pi. RetroPie is not usually where people go to watch YouTube videos.

That said, I have loaded KODI on the Raspberry Pi along with the YouTube add-on and watched videos without issue, provided network performance can keep up, so that may be an option for you. Since Kodi is basically built to play video without the overhead of a GUI desktop and all of the other features that go along with that, it makes sense that YouTube works just fine. It’s certainly not as easy as using YouTube.com in a browser, but it plays videos fine.

@bluecrown You should take a look at the Docs and do some research on the forums regarding the specific emulator you are using. I don't run any playstation emulation, but I noticed there are least three (3) different PS1 emulators alone!

If you are going to ask questions about performance, do your research first, try suggestions in the documentation, and for heaven's sake, if you end up asking about something specific, don't just mention the name of the game you are plyaing--you also gotta describe in detail what emulator you are using, and depending on its capabilities, what settings you are using etc.

That said, perhaps with more detail, someone will add their experienced answer here, although this thread was about YouTube, so. . .
