what games to get?!
-
Parzival, you should be ashamed of yourself! :-) You, of all people should know that all of the cool games are described in detail in Anorak's Almanac! Every gunter knows that.
-
Every Arcade cabinet must include the legend that is Tapper, who doesn't want to serve beer to Aliens, I'd also have Turtles, Simpsons, Sunset Rider, Mercs my personal favourite Knights of the Round!!!!!! I could go on all day
Don't forget 1942 that's sits up there as one of the best!!! Get neo geo on and go for the Metal slug series.
I will shut up now
-
I would say all of the NEO-GEO, CPS1 and CPS2 games.
-
Did you guys loose your minds?!?! I didn't see any of you say a word about New Rally-X!
It's a must have in any home arcade!
:-) -
@caver01 I love that book
-
@lilbud Yeah, me too. I listened to the audio version as read by none other than Wil Weaton. It was a little strange hearing "Wesley Crusher" for several days on end, but what a fantastic story!
I wonder, how many people are "missing it"? Just in case someone reads this and doesn't have a clue what we are talking about. . .
PEOPLE! If you love retro-gaming, then you must read Ready Player One by Ernest Cline.
Somebody had to say it.
-
@meleu I am not familiar with New Rally-X. I'll give it a look-see.
Of course, no emulation cabinet is complete without Joust. Here's my quick list of must-have classics that I like playing:
asteroids, blasteriods, burger time, centipede, elevator action, frogger, galaga, gauntlet, gauntlet 2, golden tee (all), mortal kombat 1,2,3, moon patrol, mr. do, metal slug series, ms pacman, omega race, pole position, punch out, qix, rampage, robotron, street fighter series, SMASH TV, time pilot, turbo, virtua fighter, vindicators, xenophobe, xevious (are you devious enough to defeat xevious?), zaxxon.I skipped a bunch. Part of the fun is going through a list of ROMs and discovering long-forgotten memories!
-
The only way I remember playing New Rally-X was on a Jakks-Pacific plug n' play console.
-
@lilbud Neat! That thing looks ripe for an upgrade!
-
@caver01 Oh, I still have one. Along with all of the others I ever bought. Between this and the V-Smile, they were among my first gaming memories.
-
@lilbud I have the retro-atari gizmo that came out a few years back. I don't know where it is. Maybe I sold it. But I do have my original NES. It's just hard to justify keeping these up and running when I can emulate so nicely now.
-

-
A funny fact about New Rally-X is that here in Brazil it's known as "the car that farts".
-
@meleu I thought it was called that when I first played the game back 10 years ago or so.
-
@caver01 ofcourse! Im so ashamed of my self! I know all of halliday's fav games but they are so many I cannot keep track of them and my grail diary is gone!
-
@Parzival I kida like Mappy from the classic arcade games from the eighties (unfortunately I suck at it like I do at all those hard to master classic games). Back in the day I liked Moon Patrol too because I didn't "die" as fast as in Donkey Kong and Pac-Man. Donkey Kong Jr. is a must have too. Same goes for Galaga, Gyruss, Lady Bug and Ms. Pac Man.
Good luck! :-) Which new ones do you play now because we said we like 'm?
P.S. To play Galaga in certain versions of Mame you need the general Namco roms too, named "namco51.zip" and "namco51.zip".
-
@backstander this is a nice list i will make sure to get and try most of them thanks!
-
@Meneer-Jansen I also like Mappy. this was one of the first ones i got because it came in the namco classic collection rom. same with Galaga. (which is one of my top 5 favorite arcade games). I wanna see if i can try the other ones as well.
-
@meleu which one is that? do you have a file name?
-
@Parzival said in what games to get?!:
@meleu which one is that? do you have a file name?
