Update to 4.3 seems stuck

Using retropie menus, I started the update all on my RPi 3 over an hour ago.
It seems to be stuck here for quite a long time now, so I'm nervous it's dead or something:
Unpacking raspberrypi-kernel-headers (1.20170703-1) over (1.20170515-1)...Edit: in case it matters, it's on wireless network and the only thing plugged in are hdmi cable and xbox one s usb cable that is connected to my xbox one s controller.
Edit2: i tried unplugging my xbox one controller for a while but no change. so i plugged it back in and saw a lightning bolt flash on and off on the screen.
then after a minute or so, it started doing stuff again.hopefully it will finish.

Leave it to finish, it takes a long time to read/write the files on the SD card and this package has a lot of files.
You can check via SSH, using thetopcommand, what's the process currently running and what's doing. -
i'm seeing a lightning bolt come up on and off sometimes during this update. does it mean that maybe my xbox one s controller connected by usb is using too much power? i never used my xbox one controller with my Rpi before because i used to use my xbox 360 usb controller.
is that lightning bolt anything to worry about? -
it finished, so i chose to reboot. it looks ok. whew

i'm getting the lightning bolt flashing a lot. i never used to see that before. is this bad?

@ckp I means that the Pi is being underpowered. Make sure your power supply is good and puts out at least 2.5A. Don't use cheap USB cables to power the pi. Those have very thin cables that can't pass full power. Don't use a TV USB port to power the Pi.
It won't damage the pi. The pi will down clock (run slower) to reduce the load. If the power gets too low, the Pi will just turn off, which could corrupt the SD card. -
Hmm, but i have the "good" Canakit with the good power supply going from Pi to power outlet. i have a good hdmi cable to Tv and and original microsoft usb to xbox one cord. what else can i do?

@ckp something is bad with that supply then. Or it has a poor connection. Make sure the usb cable is tight into the pi and does not wiggle easily. If it wiggles, it may not be connecting vet well

wiggling it causes the lightning bolt to come up. =/
