Texmaster port?
-
Figured out my issue was permissions related on the data folder. Anyways, the more important stuff: I've just added Texmaster2009 to my repo: https://github.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra/blob/master/scriptmodules/ports/texmaster2009.sh

I don't suppose anyone has figured out a way to remap ESC to a controller button or select+ combination?
@felleg I'm not sure how to pm you, but if your offer still stands I'd love to know how/where to get the changes to make Texmaster closer to TGM.
Hey GamerDad! Sorry about the 4 days delay. I found out the PM system does not exist on this forum, but you did the right thing to get my attention. Sadly, I don't know about a way to map the escape button yet. It's not like you will need it often, though: when you start the game, it's unlikely you will stop playing it! It's just too good! :D
About the TGM version of the theme, I will upload my handmade version when I get home (in a couple of hours), along with the TerminoVelocity theme. Get hype!

Very cool! I have not tried it, but it looks good! :) Hurray for texmaster spreading on RetroPie.

Ok, here it is! This zip contains 3 themes: default, TGM and Termino Velocity. To use one of them, change the name of its folder to "data" and move it the same directory as the Texmaster2009 application.

@felleg Holy moley this is awesome work! I skimmed some of the files and it's quite impressive work. I can't wait to try these out this weekend when I have some time. Thank you for sharing them.

@zerojay Installing from binary did not work for me, but installing from source appears to have worked great.

Uh, there are no binaries so I'm not sure why that would be an option...?
-
@zerojay 100% agree, but RetroPie-Setup definitely gave me that option!
-
@periodiclogic I'm confused, texmaster is part of the retropie -setup script, now?
-
@felleg It is part of RetroPie-Extra run by @zerojay at https://github.com/zerojay/RetroPie-Extra.
RetroPie-Extra expands RetroPie-Setup to include additional experimental installation options, including, as of a few days ago, Texmaster.
-
@periodiclogic Thanks for the info. This is good news!

@zerojay Hi , I have some problems getting Texmaster to work. I installed RetroPie-Extra and then tried to install Texmaster2009 from experimental packages. I then get this message (both from source and binary):
Could not successfully install Texmaster2009 - TetrisTGM Clone
(/home/pi/RetroPie-Setup/tmp/build/texmaster2009/Texmaster2009/data not found). So then I downloaded the game files and arranged the folders like the path above, using Winscp. I then tried again to install Texmaster but I get the same error and afterwards I checked the 'build' folder using Winscp and the texmaster2009 folder had disappeared. Any ideas? I'm running a Jessie build, is that a problem?

@BobHarris The RP-Extra is not maintained anymore, I'm not sure you'd get a reply.
Note - This repository is no longer maintained. Please feel free to fork it and take it over for the Retropie community as I am no longer using it and no longer have time to do any work with it. To those of you who have made an effort and contributed, you have my endless thanks and respect.
What is the error when building - find the log file in
~/RetroPie-Setup/logs
and upload it's contents to pastebin.com, maybe we can fix the error. -
@mitu Hi thanks for trying to help me out with this. I've never used Pastebin before, so am I doing the right thing posting this link? : https://pastebin.com/r1hh5Zui
These were the steps I took that resulted in the log from above:
- Download the compressed Texmaster file from the first post in this topic.
- Extract it and also extract the Texmaster file for a Pi 2/3 (which contains a file without an extension)
- Create a folder called texmaster2009 and put the Texmaster2009 folder in here.
- Move everything over to the 'build' folder (I took these steps because during my first attempt the error seemed to say that files were missing on my sd card)
- Install Texmaster2009 from experimental packages
-
@BobHarris The log shows that installation tries to unpack the
.7z
archive from http://zerojay.com/Texmaster2009-5.7z, but that archive is no longer available at that location, so that's why (I think) the scriptmodule installation fails. -
@mitu Ok makes sense. So right now I'm on a fresh backup of my sd, following the steps posted by Mediamogul in this topic.
I've followed all @mediamogul steps meticulously but I get thrown back to emulationstation right after starting Texmaster.. is there also a log file of this event somewhere? Edit: found it:
https://pastebin.com/AUau3T0xSo I figured I was pointing towards the directory instead of the game file. So I made an adjustment and now I get this error:
https://pastebin.com/MUYxNKd9 -
@mitu I changed the permissions in the Texmaster2009 folder and now Texmaster2009 boots :)

I've updated the installation script to point to another copy of it on my server and have submitted it to RetroPie-Extra. Now to figure out how to fix the resolution...

Hey guys, anyone managed to remap the ESC key to some stick combination (like in mame) ?
Everything is working perfectly but not being able to exit the game is a pain (no proper shutdown of the pi...) :)
-
You'll have to use something like xboxdrv maybe. I haven't gotten around to doing it myself yet.
