When I originally setup my Retropie the Mame games would load up, but the controller wouldn't function.

This issue bugged me, and I couldn't figure it out so I took off Mame.

Now the Snes is doing the same thing, but more weird is the controller for it has always worked before, but now it doesn't function for it at all.

        @digi What is your question?

To begin, please read this: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first it will prevent the following.....

When I originally setup my Retropie the Mame games would load up, but the controller wouldn't function.

Which MAME? Mame4All? It will not work unless you set up the controller manually according to the documentation.

Now the Snes is doing the same thing

Which emualtor?, which controller? How did you install retropie? What hardware? Which rom?

          Retropie 3 with 4.1 installed

As for what SNES emulator I had three options and have used all of them to no results.

The controller was an Xbox 360 corded one, but I have some USB SNES controllers I'm going to try out.

The same with Mame I tried the ones that come with the program. As I've never installed a new one only Retropie.

@digi said in Controller support Mame and SNES:

            Retropie 3 with 4.1 installed

Do you mean Raspberry Pi 3?

The same with Mame I tried the ones that come with the program

Mame does not come with roms. What do you mean? Have you purchased this or installed it yourself? Please go back and read https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first again and post the requested details. Please read point 5 in particular. Remember that you agreed to do this before you posted a support request.

As I've never installed a new one only Retropie.

            What does this even mean?

Also, please answer my questions above. What is your actual issue? Controller issues? What are your configs? How did you configure? Which SNES rom? I am asking for the rom, not the emulator. The file format? The name?

Your responses are not helping people to help you.

The Retropie that I downloaded came with preinstalled emulators, if noted roms I was wrong.

Sorry very new to this tinkering, and my problem is the controllers aren't responding to the games when I boot them up.

In the SNES instance it was working to just stopping, with Mame games it never worked.

So I can accomplish getting a game to run, but can't exert any control over it is my issue for those two systems.

              Hopefully that better helps,

@digi Earlier I said that MAME4ALL needs to be configured. Which MAME are you trying?
