Hey everyone! New to the RetroPie world and loving it so far. Using two Bluetooth 8BitDo NES Pro controllers with my Pi3 and had a question for everyone. Controllers seem to be working fine. Some ROMs will work great as a 2-player game but others will not. For example, one ROM will work as a 2-player game using only one controller. Another ROM will work as a 2-player game if the two controllers are on but will only use one of them during a game. And then I have a couple of ROMs that will not let me select a 2-player game.

So, my question is....are some ROMs just not capable of running two controllers in a 2-player game? It seems like that’s the case and I need to maybe try some different ROM’s of the same game? Thanks for the help!

@mrmonkeygomez You need to be way more specific. We cannot tell by your post if you are talking about arcade games, NES, SNES, Playstation. . . what? There are MANY MANY emulators as a part of RetroPie, so you have to give us a clue at least.

If you are asking about arcade games, yes, some arcade cabinets only ever had one set of controls that players took turns sharing and the game ROMs run in an emulator designed to reproduce exactly what the original game did. If the programmers of the game did not consider separate controls for two players, it stands to reason that accurate emulation will face the same situation.

Yes, please be more specific and we can help. I've set up loads of 8bitdo controllers and frequently have 4 working via Bluetooth on my system with no issues at all :)
