I've got a pretty stock install of the current Retropie, on an RP3B board. I'm trying to use the 3.5mm jack to do composite video, to use with a TV that doesn't do HDMI. HDMI works fine. Anyhow, it seems to be outputting in monochrome, with a glitchy frame around the bottom abd right side of the display, with everything being seemingly off centre. I have a TV and a projector that I've tested this with, as well as two different cables, all with the same result. Any ideas?

@brad2600 in the /boot/config.txt file you probably have the video set wrong for your region. If you have pal, it is probably set to ntsc. Or if you have ntsc it is probably set to pal.

@brad2600 something i just thought of, does your tv have a shared green/yellow? If so, you are on component and not composite channel. Correct channel might just be called video.

it is a composite only situation. i do have one of those shared green/yellow units, but i avoid using it for pretty much anything, just to keep from complicating things.

sdtv_mode being set to 0, 1, 2, or 3 seems to make no difference.

sdtv_aspect=1 has in fact framed it as 4:3, so thats good. its still the same black n white mess, just 4:3 now!

also worth noting, when it first boots, the test colour screen is in colour, albeit glitchy with bars down the side. once the boot sequence starts however, there is no colour.

also, to ensure that none of my changes have affected this, i just tried a default, no rom, freshly downloaded install. still the exact same results.
