Steel Talons (rev 2) doesn't start with MAME 2003
-
Greetings,
edit: Changed "rev 1" to "rev 2" (typo) in the title and text.
I'm using Retropie 4.3 with MAME 2003 on my Raspberry Pi 3b. The game "Steel Talons (rev 2)" (no-intro naming scheme, romname steeltal.zip) doesn't start. The file /dev/shm/runcommand.log says:
Parameters:
Executing: SDL_VIDEO_EGL_DRIVER=/opt/vc/lib/libEGL.so SDL_VIDEO_GL_DRIVER=/opt/vc/lib/libGLESv2.so /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-mame2003/mame2003_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/mame-libretro/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-libretro/steeltal.zip" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
fatal: install_mem_write16_handler called on 0-bit cpuIf you need more information, please tell me.
Besides, is there a "codeblock" formatting or the like in this forum? I didn't find one.
Thanks for any advice

Looks like a bad ROM - which ROMset are you using ? Mame2003 needs a MAME 0.78 ROM.
For code formatting you can use http://commonmark.org/help/ as reference (linked from the Compose help link on the editor). -
Not sure what ROM set you are trying to run but the version in the 0.78 set is Revision 2. And it doesn't run. It does however run (quite poorly) in advanceMame.

Thank you both for the replies. The rev 1 was a typo on my side, it's actually rev 2. It is from a MAME 2003 / 0.78 reference set. After reading your posts, I also tried steelta1, steeltag and steeltap and none of them work, so I'll just let this one go.
Since the Mame 078.dat from the Wiki doesn't have status entries like modern mame's listxml has, where can I lookup if a particular ROM runs with mame2003 at all? Is the Mame 078.dat mame2003's own listxml output? If not, how can I generate one?

Thanks, I didn't notice the Compose link until you mentioned it. It is quite tiny and grey. :)
