Best Micro SD Card?

Ouch, didn't realise that. The two options I was going to buy - the Kingston 16GB and the Evo 16GB have some working and some not :(
It's actually hard to see the exact model that confirms as all working.

these may work, i use the 4gb & 8gb variants, the link says the 8gb ones don't work well, but i've had no issues with them, so if you can spare a few ££ or $$ give one a go

I used a 64gb kingston for a long time. A 16gb is more than enough for Nintendo games, even N64, you'll only need a bigger card if you're trying to play CD based consoles, because most of those games are around 500mb. I got the EVO Plus after I started playing psp games because the pi couldn't read the kingston fast enough so the game would hitch every two minutes.
So Kingston class 10 is fine for PSX/N64 down.

Get the largest card you can get. I'm using a Samsung Evo 64 GB Class 10 which has the price tag of 20 EUR. I have like 23GB free space on it, I wish I got the 128GB card.

My three latest pi's I've gone a different route. Get a 4Gb sd card...doesn't matter what and also get a usb thumb drive...I use these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA12K3893735&cm_re=scandisk_usb_32_gb_3.0--0BD-000B-00407-- SanDisk 32GB Cruzer Ultra Fit USB 3.0 130MB/s Nano Flash Pen Thumb Drive CZ43) and set it up to boot from usb drive...its more reliable and faster and all you'll have leftover on the sd card is the /boot directory. Super easy to do it only takes about 15 minutes to set up!

yup I'd have to totally agree, USB drive is a better way imho, seems to get less card corruption in all of my pi's too

@jay81uk I use a 16GB sandisk ultra. I'd stay away from sd cards on eBay if I were you.

That's only my opinion but I think it's the best to use two storages.
- The system on SD-card and there size and speed really does not matter (I use 4GB class 4 Intenso and/or Kingston)
- USB-stick 128GB for ROMs

@jay81uk I would go for the Samsung Evo 64 GB Class 10 or EVo Plus. I use the SD Card for my Raspberry Pi Samsung EVO Plus. You have to consider Consider Wear Levelling, which is a critical facto in SD cards

I've tried both a Kingston and Transcend Sd cards respectively 128GB and 64 GB. But they gave me random rebooting problems.
Currently, I'm using SanDisk Ultra 200GB, for months without facing any trouble. It has a monster speed and memory. Use it on my tablet with great performance.

Everything I have ever tried has worked. However speed is much more important than I realized. [https://www.sdcard.org/consumers/choices/speed_class/index.html](link url)l. I recommend UHS Speed class 3. The speed is not even for loading the games. The Emulation Station menu is vastly more responsive with a fast card. Especially if you want to use video snaps.

If you are looking for both capacity and performance, I highly recommend the Sandisk Extreme series cards (not Ultra). I went through a great deal of frustration a while back with seemingly random pauses on ISO based games due to either transfer rate limitations or more likely interruptions to the data stream from the ISO image while playing a disk image based game. I finally found what I consider to be the best solution for both speed and capacity in the Sandisk Extreme 128GB SD card. Once I found this card, the issues I was having all but vanished and I've never needed to test another card. The only downside is it is pricey, so you might want a smaller card if you don't need the capacity. I should mention I have not tested smaller cards in the Extreme series though.
