Okay. So I recently set up RetroPie on my Raspberry Pi 2 Model B. I chose to download Dragon's Lair for it. I downloaded the Daphne Emulator on Retropie, downloaded the Dragon's Lair rom, followed the instructions on the wiki, youtube tutorials, etc. But I can't for the life of me launch the game! I downloaded the DVD-VIDEO from somewhere online, but the folder didn't have "lair.m2v", or "lair.ogg", etc. It gave me .m2v and .ogg files for each clip of the game. So I uploaded them to my Pi via Filezilla. I used the exact same folder structure as the wiki suggests (with lair.daphne and lair.zip etc). It shows up in the menus for RetroPie/EmulationStation. I click on Dragon's Lair-- and I get this error (as stated in the es_log.txt):
lvl1: Unknown platform for system "daphne" (platform "daphne" from list "daphne")
      lvl2: Parsing XML file "/home/pi/.emulationstation/gamelists/daphne/gamelist.xml"...
lvl1: File ""/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/roms/lair.daphne"" does not exist! Ignoring.
lvl1: gameList: folder doesn't already exist, won't create
      lvl0: Error finding/creating FileData for ""/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/roms"", skipping.

The pi either freezes, or goes back to the retropie menu.
I have no idea what the issue is, or why it is happening, but I need to fix it. If someone would help me it would be a huge help.

      Cheers.

Have you, in some way, moved your 'roms' folder to another location?

@htucker7 The error reads like it is trying to lookup something you have in your home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne/roms folder called lair.daphne. I am thinking maybe your folder structure is not right.

Inside the home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne folder you should have another roms folder. Inside that should be the lair.zip rom file. Then, back to the home/pi/RetroPie/roms/daphne folder, you should also have a lair.daphne folder, and inside that you should have your .m2v files, sound files and the lair.txt file.

Then, I think emulation station will find the lair.zip in the place it thinks it should be.

@mediamogul No. The roms folder is in the same place as it was when I installed Daphne.

@caver01 Ok. But, by any chance, would the file name of the .m2v files/.ogg files matter? They each look like this: alt text
My txt file for Dragon's Lair is just "lair.txt".

Would this work? Or is the filename formatted wrong?

Also, would the lair.zip file contain the m2v/ogg files? or just the rom file?

              EDIT:
I created a folder on my main computer to show you what the folder structure looks like for me: alt text

and compare it with what you did.

@htucker7 no need to bump. Some of us are asleep after midnight. Have a little patience.

Your folder structure looks fine. The lair.zip is just the rom files. The media files can be multiple files like you describe so long as the lair.txt file with them references each file and the starting frame numbers.

@caver01 Sorry. I was just frustrated because I have been trying to make this work since the end of June. I was able to get it working though. Thanks for the help. :)

                          Mine was a permissions issue.

Have a look at "Setup Daphne for Dragon's Lair on rPi3, Black Screen", and see if it helps you.

@ferdnand If you follow the "regular" process of setting up Daphne Loader on a PC/Mac, letting it download the media files, authorizing properly with a valid Dragon's Lair DVD, you should end up with a single video file (lair.m2v), a single audio file (lair.ogg) and a lair.txt that looks like this:

                            .

                            151 lair.m2v

This file basically references the video file and the number is the starting frame from the original laserdisc. Daphne knows, based on the frame numbers, where all of the scenes begin and end.

If you have a different set of media files (for example, you ripped mpeg2 video directly from an actual Dragon's Lair Laserdisc from your real Dragon's Lair arcade system), you need figure out the correct starting frame numbers for each of your media files. It can be done. Good luck. Google is your friend, but a good starting place is to learn everything you can about Daphne, laserdiscs and framefiles. Try this for starters.
