Transferring SNES Roms from USB to Pi 3 - taking a long time?
-
Hi,
Just in the process of transferring SNES roms into the Pi and it seems like it is taking a long time? So far about 5 hours for 1GB of Roms. The usb is still flashing so I assume the data is still transferring.
How long should this take roughly or is there anything that potentially could be wrong etc.
cheers -

Unfortunately my thumb drive doesnt have a LED on it, so when I transfered all my ROMs I waited about two hours, then went into SSH and into the folders to check they were all loaded. Once I saw that all the files were there (literally as long as my NES, SNES, SEGA folders had games with a Z) I felt comfortable and unplugged it -
Thanks, I sort of did the same.
I waited about 6 hours in total, and made sure the green led light was no longer flashing on the pi and removed the usb, even though it was still flickering. All the games had loaded and I have been testing the ones towards the end of the list, and thus far all good.

Why not uploading them via samba? If you're on Windows just go to windows explorer and go to
\RETROPIE\roms
It's way faster.

What about running the ROMS from the USB, just go in to Retropie settings and disable USB ROM Services.
