Fantastic, great build! Open the lid, show us more... I'd certainly be interested to see the workings of the rotation etc... or does it just balance on top with a lip? I love the way youve sculpted the consoles around the rib in the keg... pretty sure that didnt come easy. Nice work.

That's brilliant! Did you take any photos during the various stages of building? Would be great to see all the processes that went into making it.

How do you play 2 Player games when the controls are facing opposite each other? Is there Split Screen Mode in Retropie?

@shay90 Obviously, @ontheoggin can give a direct answer, but I can answer part of this question. . . many games, especially classics have a DIP switch setting called COCKTAIL MODE which forces the screen to flip upside down for player 2. For example, in the image above, Pac Pan would have Player 1 playing normally, and then when the ghosts get him, player 2 would start from across the table and the screen automatically flips.

I have this setup on my system for all vertical games. The trouble comes in when you wan to play a 2 player game in cooperative mode. Games like 1941 where both players are on the screen at the same time, side-by-side. For these games, you are basically stuck, because one player would have to be playing upside down. There are also games that are simply not programmed with cocktail mode described above. If the original arcade system did not have the option, MAME won't.

There is a shader/video mode in later versions of MAME (2010) that will allow two screens to appear at the same time, one for each player position. I don't know how this affects performance, but I have seen threads here about people trying to use it.

Great work and a wonderful idea. But aren't the controls too low for the chairs? I can't imagine playing for a long time with the controls between my knees.

That said, you could make a standing table using two barrels. :)

What brand of joysticks and buttons did you use?
