      This machine is broken and not fit for purpose how can they get away with this?

      By paying the lowest dollar for cheap third world labour to get games barely "functioning"

      If I were you I'd get a pi, gut the innards and replace it with a pi. At the very least you'll get a cool case out of it

        What is a Pi?
        I'm not experienced at opening up stuff and tinkering with parts.
        I was actually thinking about picking up an original genesis and buying games now that my appetite got wet after trying g to play the flashback, but man, what a let down.

          @iain ... Do... Do you know what forum you're on?

          A raspberry pi? You don't know what a raspberry pi is? Well you're in luck. It's a Sega Genesis, it's a super Nintendo, it's a home surveillance system, it's a flight tracker, it's a robot brain, it's whatever you set your mind for it to be.

          But for your use case, put on your thinking cap and dig in:

                @iain just make sure you do some research before proceeding. If you are a beginner it might be a bit complicated to customizing everything to your liking. However, the options are limitless... some good motivation to start studying raspberry and retropie

                  I saw 2 tutorials that are quite detailed and easy to follow. I've got my eye on a pi3 kit for retro gaming. As long as I can run my snes and Sega ROMs on my TV I will be happy

                    I must admit you asking what a Pi is in a forum dedicated to it was hilarious 😂
                    Check a guy called ETA Prime on YouTube. There’s a tutorial for just about anything in his channel, from first installation to advanced configurations, and they’re extremely easy to follow, he’s really good at explaining stuff; it was a lot of help when I first started.
                    Also check the online documentation, the guys here do a great job with the Wiki.
                    Welcome, and good luck :)

                      Thanks for steering me in the right direction. Blows me away how sega can be OK with atgames releasing the flashback. It doesn't work. I might have been fine with crashing problems if it had WiFi capabilities that would allow it to receive updates to eventually iron out all the bugs, purchasing new games would have been a great feature too, why didn't Sega think of this stuff? Instead people are paying good money for an untested awkward brick. Thank goodness we have plenty of other option. Thanks for the advice guys.

                        @iain few things of note:

                        If you're buying a kit stick with something like the canakit. Don't spend money on any kits that have retropie preloaded as it is a breach of software licences to sell retropie not to mention you don't know what else people have done to it, so when it breaks you're SOL, plus nobody here will support 3rd party images.

                        Also stick with the official docs, YouTube videos become quickly outdated (mine included!)

                        This should give you everything you need to know to get you started:
