4.3 - Added USB Stick for roms now storage full

I added a 64gb fat32 usb stick and added a bunch of roms. I unplugged the usb stick so I assume that it copies stuff onto the sd card in the system. I’ve been deleting a bunch of games via the metadata screens and doesnt seem to be making space available. Its been restarted since. Been trying to scrape roms but after deleting dozens of snes roms and a few ps1, the disk is still full. How can I free my space back up if deleting games hasnt worked? I deleted with usb stick out if that means anything, rebooted several times.

Also is it possible to have roms run off the usb without copying or filling up storage? If so, how?

You can use an external USB stick for ROM storage - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive/

As for the other problem, do you have PC connected to the same network with the PI system ? If so, then access ``\retropie\roms` in Windows Explorer (with the USB stick removed) and delete the ROMs you no longer need. The SNES ROMs have little size, the PS1 are the ones that probably make the bulk of your space.

To check the space you have, drop to a command line by exiting Emulation station and look at the information shown - what's the disk size and the used size shown ?

I do not, but can I remove the sd card from the system to remove them? If so where woukd they be located (never looked at sd on computer).

@carnagepie781 Unless you have Linux OS, you cannot access the ROM partition, since Windows/Mac are unable to read the Linux partition where they're located.
The SD card has partitions - one is the boot partition, and the 2nd is the Linux ext4 partition. Windows/Mac can read and write the 1st partition, but the 2nd.

Usually people have a Wifi router where they connect the PI and any other PC/devices they have.

Did you check the disk space like I said above ? Exit Emulationstation and then you should see something like:

Thanks, I’ll check my storage when I get hone tonight. As well as connecting them to same network, if its just a matter of being on same wifi vonnection then they would be on the same

Also note: if your PS1 games are in BIN/CUE format, deleting from Emulation Station seems to only delete the CUE file, leaving behind the lage BIN file. So you may have to browse onto your Pi while it is connected to the network and manually delete those BIN files. You can do this either on a Windows computer connected to the same network by browsing your network places and finding RETROPIE (unless you renamed it) or on an Android phone download an app called "File Manager" by Asus, and you can use this app to browse your local network if you are connected to your home WiFi with your phone. I'm sure you can do this with ES file explorer on the phone too, but I find it bloated.

Or you can plug the SD card into a computer running Linux and do it that way too. You might be able to do this while running PIXEL desktop on the Pi itself, but I haven't played around with it enough to say either way.

Another thing you might be able to do, if you're running an Android phone, is connect the SD card to your phone through an OTG adapter, or put it in the phone itself and try it that way if you're desperate. Not something I've tried, but Android is technically Linux, so it might work in a pinch. Again, this is assuming you have an Android device.

I just check it my screen says use percentage 100%

In network I deleted bunch of ps1 and seems to be working now as far as I can tell. Thank you so mich!!
