    i have had my raspberry pi 3 for about a week and have tried to get retropie on it but when i extract the file on 7-zip it made the file a program and every time i try to redownload retropie it is still a program and cant be a .img so can someone tell me how to fix it or give me the document to have retropie on my raspberry pi please

      @koth_ness http://www.thewindowsclub.com/show-file-extensions-in-windows - follow this to be able to see a file's extension. The icon of the file does not determine if it's a 'program' or not, it's the extension.
      After this, go back to the installation page - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/First-Installation/ - and follow the steps there.

          I agree with the admin above. Use a program called Etcher. Makes life easier.
