Hard time with BlueMSX emulator
-
Hello, I'm new to retropie,
Here is my config :
Pi3 B
Retropie 3.7 setup by SD image
Usb keyboard
8bitdo nes30 game pad1st of all, I got it to work properly for Metal Gear 1 and 2 without problems, until i knew about this turbo fix for MG2, so i patched it, tried it on my PC blueMSX emu and it worked perfectly. Then I tried loading the same patched game with the emulator in my Pi3 but was slow as usal, so I went into the emulator options with Select+X and changed the machine type from MSx2+ to MSX Turbo, I restarted it and it never loaded any game again. the runcommand log says this:
Parameters:
Executing: /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-bluemsx/bluemsx_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/msx/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/msx/Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake.rom" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfg
/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh: line 1007: 32192 Segmentation fault /opt/retropie/emulators/retroarch/bin/retroarch -L /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-bluemsx/bluemsx_libretro.so --config /opt/retropie/configs/msx/retroarch.cfg "/home/pi/RetroPie/roms/msx/Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake.rom" --appendconfig /dev/shm/retroarch.cfgSo what am I missing here? Kinda clueless, I tried reinstalling the emulator through the optional packages so it would change back to MSX2+ but it doesn't work that way i seems since I'm still getting that log info. I really wanna play the game with that TurboFix btw.

@mahcneto msx turbo doesnt work because metal gear 2 is an msx2 game not msx 1 which msx turbo is. You can open up the file /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg and find the line that says
bluemsx_type =
And change it from MSXTURBO or whatever it is to MSX2+ All caps is important.

@edmaul69 oh thanks, i just fixed it! so there's no chance to play the game with this speed hack? it's kinda slow without it
-
@mahcneto have you tried installing lr-fmsx and tried the rom on that?
-
@edmaul69 it does work but just normally, like bluemsx, and with crappy sound. In BlueMSX pc version of the emu, you need to choose MSXturbo in order to get the hack working, so i thought it would work just the same as that :/
