      Pi Model: (3 Model B)
      RetroPie Version Used: (3.8.1)
      Built From: (SD Image)
USB Devices connected: Keyboard, Logitech F310 Gamepad
Controller used: Keyboard, Logitech F310 Gamepad
      How to replicate the problem:

When installing the Child Friendly module (purely for the "Surprise Me!" random game feature), I discovered that all of the sub-folders within the emulators had disappeared, and only the top-level games were displayed. I have various sub-folders to keep the many games organized, and was unable to access any but the few top-level ones.

Since it wouldn't do for me to have every game in the top-level, I decided to uninstall Child-Friendly, which ended up breaking Retropie. I couldn't load EmulationStation anymore, as it was still apparently looking for the Child-Friendly mod, which was no longer there. Not knowing where to edit the code, I ended up just doing a clean install on the SD card (my fault for not backing it up first, as recommended).

All that being said, I'm just looking for a way to select a random game, and Child-Friendly for some reason hides all the sub-folders, and uninstalling it caused more problems.

I've just updated the repo, and this should be fixed now. By all means, reinstall via the experimental packages and let me know how it goes!

If tetris has thought me anything, it's that errors pile up and that accomplishments dissappear.

@Zigurana Great! I'll give it a try (after I backup everything first this time).

So, the random select seems to be working, and displaying the subfolders from what I can see. Great!

However, now when I select Shutdown System, it goes to a black screen with a blinking _ underscore instead of shutting off.

Edit: the same thing happens when I F4 out to he command line. The command line never appears, only the blinking underscore and black screen.
