Retroachievements Help
-
Hey guys, I'm curious to know how the plugin "Retroachievements" works and how to access that database to trigger events based on it. I just have a few questions about this plugin:
How are scores recorded?
Are they done in Real Time or once you log out of the game?
can you create groups in it to compete against others in the group?
Is there an offline and online version of it?Thanks in advance, any help with this would be greatly appreciated :)

@feutegraf You won't get the answer from me.
But look here's the @meleu signal

I think you mean your RetroAchievements points, right? It's recorded on RetroAchievements.org database.

Real time. It needs to be real time.
can you create groups in it to compete against others in the group?
Unfortunately not. You can add friends and compete against your friend list. But you can't create different groups.
Is there an offline and online version of it?
No offline version. You must be online to make it work.
By the way, I spent most of my freetime of the past couple of months on The RetroAchievements Documentation Project. Maybe you can find useful info and, why not?, learn to create achievements.

this is great, the real reason why I was asking is because I've been trying to trigger an LED animation whenever a new high score is reached. So instead of hacking each individual game I think it would be easier to trigger them via this database. Retroachievements is open-source, correct?

@feutegraf I replied your other topic, and gonna repost here:
I think you can get some inspiration in this thread here:

I'm not sure about what exactly you're talking about. Depending on the context RetroAchievements can have different meanings. It can be a concept, a community, an actual achievement coded by an achievement developer, the RetroAchievements.org website, etc
If you're talking about the official emulators, yes, they are open source: https://github.com/RetroAchievements/RASuite/
The emulator we use on RetroPie is RetroArch, and it is opensource too: https://github.com/libretro/retroarch
