File System Corruption (VFS Unable to Mount block179,2)
-
I posted the following on the RetroPie Reddit page looking for any ideas on what to look into next. The only advice was to look for power spikes from the outlet, which is something I am looking into. What I'm really looking for is a log that may help track down the cause or problem... Read the wall of text below if you feel like helping me out. Thanks.
I have a RetroPie build I’ve put together that works great. I recently shared a setup with a friend of mine and he’s having consistent filesystem corruption with the end result being either corrupt gamelist.xml files, and most recently this error which seems to be related to update problems...?
Out of 3 RPi 3’s running the latest updates of RetroPie, each image burned with Win32DiskImager... only 1 household suffers these issues.
I have gone down the list of things to change. Swapped to new RPi3, new power supply, added a case with a fan (to make sure it wasn’t heat related), many different SD cards which worked for weeks on my system and failed on his within minutes sometimes.
He claims to do a proper shutdown, but usually crashed before he can even get that far.
I’m wondering what logs may help me find the cause of this (or if anyone has anything else I could try) since the other 2 units have been in use for over a year without any problems.

UPDATE: Added a power conditioner between the outlet and the RPi3. This morning marks the longest running setup so far. Even if it has only been a few hours. Not ready to celebrate just yet... but what a wild ride this has been.
