Editing mame2003 cfg file
-
I was looking through the cfg files in my mame2003 folder under my arcade folder and was assuming that you could just edit those with a text editor.
I opened one up in notepad++ but it looks like a binary data file with some custom data format:
Is that expected behavior? Is there an editor or something? I was hoping to take a look at where the input binding is setup for the in-game menus within mame2010 (which doesnt appear to have any folders or cfg files so I am assuming that mame2010 shares the mame2003 cfg files?)
At any rate. I was reading some other posts about these cfg files and it sounded to me like they should just be editable text.

Yes, it's not a text file. Quoting from https://retropie.org.uk/docs/lr-mame2003/:
These files are not human-readable, but can be safely deleted if you get into a mess and wish to return to the default configuration.
