@bubbypop666 You have the following options:

        (1) Install lr-dosbox from the experimental section of the RetroPie setup script.

        • Pros: Mouse is automatically mapped to a gamepad. For example, for my PS3 controller, mouse movement is mapped to the right analog stick, the left mouse button to R2 and the right mouse button to L2.
        • Cons: The keymapper is not supported so you will need to use a keyboard for any key inputs in games such as Abuse.

        (2) Use xboxdrv to map the mouse to your gamepad.

        • Pros: Once configured, will work with any controller.
        • Cons: Configuration can be overwhelming for the newcomer though there is an example for mapping a mouse in ScummVM in section 3A of the documentation to get you started.

        More info:
        https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Universal-Controller-Calibration-&-Mapping-Using-xboxdrv/

        (3) Use Linux Joystick Mapper to map the mouse to your gamepad.

        • Pros: More straightforward than xboxdrv to setup.
        • Cons: May not work with every controller or may need to use different versions to get it to work.

@bubbypop666 To use lr-dosbox instead of the default standalone version of DOSBox, you need to launch the runcommand menu. More info: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Runcommand/

@bubbypop666 You can try changing the machine type in the RGUI.

Launch Conquest of the New World and bring up the RGUI by pressing Select+X. In Quick Menu, choose Options. The Machine Type should default to vgaonly. Change this to svga_s3 and then exit lr-dosbox.

Relaunch Conquest of the New World.

@bubbypop666 In the same Options menu, there is the option to change the number of CPU cycles. Try playing around these values until it's playable.

@bubbypop666 Have you set up the sound by running SETUP.EXE?

If not, then run it and select Auto Detect Sound Hardware from the Main Menu, then continue when prompted. Accept the results and then you can test in the main menu.
