Importing ROMs via USB. 2 troubling scenarios
-
I have done this with no issue once already. Plugged the drive into the pie; pie created a folder structure; loaded up the USB stick on PC; plugged back into the pie and auto import works perfectly.
BUT
I want to add additional roms. What happens when I add new roms to the USB stick without removing the old roms? Will the pie try for a 1:1 sync with the USB stick? In other words will it
1.) Add the new Roms I have added since the initial import
2.) Over write the ROMs I imported last time with the same
3.) Remove any ROMs from the pie that I removed from the USB stickOr does it only do #1 and #2 because USB import does not include a delete function (I assume this is the case)
Or maybe just #1 because it sees the pie knows the same roms need not be imported again (Wishfull thinking but I bet it recopies anything on the drive and overwrites the existing roms) -
It will add the new roms, I don't know if it overwrites existing roms though I can't see why that would be a problem. Removing roms from your usb will not remove them from your SD.
I'm very new here and had the Raspberry pi 3 for less then a week.

What was I thinking?! Experimentation and testing ourselves is why we have these pies :D Ran the cases through myself aaaaaaaand...
The answer is: USB import cannot remove roms or folders. All contents are copied over from the USB (new and existing files). So basically # 1 and 2 from the above.

@captnyesterday I vaguely remember there being a from and to config transfer type thing but I don't remember if that had anything to do with roms

I basically said I was new in case I made some errors, I find the topic interesting as I want to know how to remove roms. There is the file Manager but tbh I don't have a spare keyboard.

@z1mzum Late response, but pres select on a game and you can delete it through the Edit option. The file manager you mentioned is the best way to remove en-mass as you can select hundreds at a time

@z1mzum Welcome to the forum. In general, it's better to open your own thread for your questions instead of using other's threads in the hope that a solution for your problem comes along. That said, a quick advice: If you can access your Pi over the network via SSH, you can use its file manager from afar. Just enter
mc
on the command line after logging into the Pi.
