Emulators/ROMS only appear after reboot
-
Hi,
I have my ROMS stored on a USB stick but the emulators and ROMS don't show up in emulation station on first boot (I have changed the ROM to the usb stick).
If I restart the system they show up - it's almost as though the USB drive isn't mounting in time before EmulationStation starts
Iis this something anyone has come across?
Thanks

You imply that your roms are on a USB drive. How exactly did you migrate them there?

I have 40 systems on my hard drive. It doesnt always show them all on first boot. All you have to do is restart emulationstation not the whole pi. My old hard drive had its own power supply and never had the issue. But now that i am using a usb 3.0 hard drive which no longer requires its own power i have this issue. Not a big deal rebooting emulationstation for me though.

@mediamogul - I copied them onto usb from a pc, plugged the usb into the pi, made a note of the path /media/usb1/ROMS/commodore64 for example and edited the emulation station config file for each of the systems

That method is not very reliable and may be causing your issues. The recommended technique can be found here. Along with potentially unreliable mounting issues, modifying the
es_systems.cfg
will actually break functionality with a few emulators, as some facets of RetroPie are hardcoded to use~/RetroPie/roms/
and don't referencees_systems.cfg
for a possible new location.
