I'm wondering if anyone can help me. I updated the setup script on my raspberry pi this morning and since then any time I got to any setting in emulation stations I get the above message. It also shows the same message if I try and go to attract mode.

@kgriffin You probably get this when trying to install a package or try to update, because of the package repository is no longer available (dl.bintray.com/pipplware). That was the old Kodi repository, so you should try and update the RetroPie-setup script, then the Kodi package and try again a full update of the packages.

@mitu I can't access any menu to update anything. This message shows any time I go into any options in retro pie

@kgriffin Ok, then you need to remove the repository from your list. Remove the file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/pipplware.list and then re-try.

Pardon me if I'm wrong but you paid for a modified retropie, moreover shipped with roms (which is illegal BTW).
As stated here we can't help you, simply because we don't know what modifications your retailer did.
I'm sure the retropie community would be glad to help if you use the official, unmodified (and free) retropie image.
Until then, you may ask support from your retailer.

@kgriffin @Sano is right, please use the official RetroPie image if you want any kind of support here. Note that selling systems based on the RetroPie image is not legal and it's against the RetroPie license. You should get you money back, you got scammed.

                            This is not surprising.

Pity you got taken advantage of. It's quite the lucrative business model to take other people's work, sell it as your own, then send the users to people you stole it from for support! Why didn't I think of this? Id be a bajillionaire!
