      using RetroSMC ? Or manually ? Did you exit Kodi ? RetroSMC have their own support thread on the OSMC forum. You should mention details like this when posting as mentioned on https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

          Not sure I can advise, but you need to make sure Kodi isn't running when you launch ES, or it won't be able to read any input devices AFAIR. have you asked for help on the RetroSMC OSMC thread ?

            If this is not you it might be an OSMC / RetroSMC specific issue - https://discourse.osmc.tv/t/howto-retrosmc-retrogaming-on-osmc/6671/935 note that OSMC ship with their own kernel etc.

              @BuZz I haven't asked on the OSMC forum as I don't think that the issue lies there.I am running the same RetrOSMC system that I was (eventually) succesfully using my Shanwan controller on so am hopeful I hsould get this to work.Interesting though that the Kernal is different,although I don't even really know what a Kernal is properly!I will check the link...

                @BuZz Thanks for that link.Seems that I'm not the only one experiencing the same issue....time to delve deeper...again!

                  You should try from a RetroPie image and see if that works with your controller.

                  You can install Kodi from RetroPie too (I have my system so it boots into Kodi, and when i exit Kodi it launches Emulation Station). Then I reboot to get back to Kodi (Or launch Kodi from the ES menu)

                    @BuZz Good idea dude.I might well end up giving that a try to see if it works.I really want to get my setup working how it was before,after spending all that time getting the Shanwan controller working,it was flawless and rock solid...so annoying the thing broke.Bit of a tricky one though,as I can't really just keep buying controllers in the hope that I get one that's compatible...

                      It can sometimes seem like you're exploring an ever-expanding room, but eventually the walls come into view and you're able to enjoy the furnishings.

                        @mediamogul if only the ever-expanding room was also so consistently eloquent and poetic rather than being filled with expletives and devices of torture!

                          @Wolfman100

                          Mine has this weird guy named Dave who hangs out in the corner and won't leave. He consistently has a bag of Combos, but refuses to share them. I mean, he's got a big bag of them and when I ask for just one, he goes off about how there's not enough and that if I'm hungry I should eat the microwave burritos in the fridge. But I think he's messing with me, because I've never seen a fridge and even if there was one, you can never get those microwave burritos to heat evenly and I bet he knows that. So... yes. I know what you mean.

                            I've given up completely on the Shanwan PS3 bluetooth clones. They are an absolutely nightmare plus you can't plug them in via USB to charge without having them constantly vibrate. I've also seen these controllers pair with 3 different names. One as a genuine PS3 controller and then 2 other Shanwan variants.

                            The Gaisa clones work perfectly. Easy pairing/syncing and charge perfectly off the pi with no vibration issues. The only thing I have noticed is a HID control error (upon startup) from time to time. Sometimes a reboot fixes it, othertimes I need to re-image. Not sure what that's about.

                            My recommendation - Use a genuine PS3 controller, or 8bitdo :)

                              @auswear Once I got the Shanwan controller actually paired it works flawlessly.Although it took nearly two months to get there,and without the most generous help of @luetzel and @BuZz it would NEVER have happened.It's absolutely crazy with this new controller I now have the exact opposite problem,the controller pairs fine and has a rock solid connection....but now the controls simply don't seem to be recognised!! I really cannot envisage spending another two months trying to get this working without actually being declared clinically insane.
