Coding needed for wired 360 controller?

Canakit starter kit
I just got my starter kit yesterday and I have it all set with roms. The only controller I have is a wired 360 controller. I cannot get it to work on any games. I was told I need to code it. How do I do that?

If you had your controller plugged in when you booted up it should have asked you about controller configuration. If so, this tells you everything you need to know about configuring a controller. Follow these and you'll be gaming in no time.
