N64 Emulator does not work after update
-
Hey,
I
m using a raspberry pi 3 with retropie. I have not used it for a long time, so I updated the packages first (even because it crashed one time), now my N64 emulator is not working anymore. My Pi is overclocked. The ROM
s are showing up, but do not load, or even the sound is coming but no video. Now I wanted to know, how I shall configure the emulator and which one to choose.
The IR emulator is running, but lags, impossible to play.
Mupen does nothing or if using another mupen, I get only sound. Should I maybee change the resolution?Hope someone can help me, just want to play Mario Kart again.
Edit: I updated from binary.

So, I updated again mupen64 from sources. And now I works!
But now I am asking, which of the mupen64 builds is the best emulator for the MarioKart on the raspberry pi. Does someone know? With Glide I get full screen, but not good textures and a framerate of 29. Rice is better, but 4 to 3. Has someone tested the configurations? Even for multiplayer?

You should be able to play 4 players simultaneous without any issues. I can check when I get home tonight and see what version I’m running. I do know the resolution isn’t as high as other games, but it works great.

@miguel13366 for multiplayer you will need to use glide. If you use gles2n64 split screen doesn't display properly. I can't remember why I don't use rice it probably had something to do with missing textures or speed issues.

@quicksilver with all due respect, mupen64plus-gles2n64 is what I have found runs the best for Mario Kart 64. The menus are 100% and multiplayer screens are perfect. This doesn't give you the HighRes graphics but it still looks very good. I'm not using the retroarch / libretro variant, it is the standalone.
There may have been some improvements since you looked at it last?

@chuckyp with all due respect youre absolutely right. :P I just tested and multiplayer Mario kart with gles2n64 does work. It must have been a while since I tested it last. Thanks for steering me right! (No pun intended)

I DON'T BELIEVE YOU!

@quicksilver Glad I didn’t make a fool of myself. I remember the “olden” days where you had 2 working emulators for n64 and neither gave you everything you wanted.
