I noticed the same thing after I recently upgraded. It appears that a number of symbolic links in roms/mame-advmame were pointing at themselves. To fix I had to do the following:

          cd /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/mame-advmame
          rm largefile/largefile
          rm hi/hi
          rm memcard/memcard
          rm artwork/artwork
          rm diff/diff
          rm inp/inp
          rm nvram/nvram
          rm sample/sample
          rm snap/snap
          rm sta/sta

I have fixed this now - updating advmame should remove the bad symlinks also.
