After moving roms to usb using retropie-mount, I was unable to save games.
Turns out to be a permissions issue, the usb folders arent writeable for the pi user.
OK, chmod 777 * -R ... why arent you working?
#raspian is filled with crickets and useless. OK, save me google...
drive has to be mounted by fstab to change permissions. Heres a guide.
      http://posts.danharper.me/raspberry-pi-2-auto-mount-usb/
OK, not sure WTF this would stop sudo from changing a file on a mounted partition, but lets give it a go...
System wont boot. removedthe what now?
      You are in emergency mode.
Cannot open console. The root account is locked. Press enter to continue

Pressing enter does nothing. Wait, no, I think if I listen real close I can hear the thing laughing at me when I press it.
Linux is FUn. Yes, with a capital F U. Can someone please tell me why being unable to mount an external usb drive that isnt the root system drive would cause my root account to be locked, or the system to be unable to open its console?
And does anyone have any clue how I can unbrick this thing?

I've been having some issues myself, but I'm on the testing builds so I shouldn't complain... patience is my recommendation. Patience and a big SD card.

I managed to fix it by getting back into the fstab file with a different linux install and fix my typo there. This issue is closed, but has left me with a different one. See new thread.

@kikinaak Please stop swearing, this forum is used by people all ages, including children.
You already got your answer in the other topic opened. Changing permissions on a (V)FAT partition from Linux does nothing, since the (V)FAT partition does not understand them.

Apparently you fail to comprehend "this issue is closed, see new thread.", and for the record, I did NOT get an answer in the other thread, which was opened after this one was.

@kikinaak You actually got the proper answer, but you probably didn't read the Docs that were indicated to you.

@kikinaak I edited your post for the bad language only, but continue with the attitude and your visit here will be short.

Do me a favor and lock this one before it goes any further. Once I managed to solve this problem I tried to delete the thread but couldnt because it had a reply.
My attitude is born of frustration, and the more I look, the more guides I find, and the more people I ask in the community, the more headache I get. "this guide will solve everything". If it did, I wouldnt have needed to make the post. "Oh you must have done something wrong". Gee, ya think? Ask for help, get nothing useful. Get annoyed, get chastised and threatened by a mod. Wheres this so called "helpful" community? Because not one reply here was actually constructive.

He did tone down the language as ordered, I think banning the guy was a bit overboard for what seems to be a common issue. Googling "retropie how to sort roms" returns several hits from a year ago and the general consensus seems to be "give up" At least kikinaak tried and reported his results. Now how can we actually implement this missing feature into retropie and make it better?

He was banned for his language and attitude (which he continued after my post). An apology would have been a better course of action.

I don't know what you mean by "sort roms". There is plenty of information and documentation on the forum/in the docs. If you are stuck open a thread for help detailing your issue.

Actually I'm not kikinaak, but I have seen this kind of garbage attitude before. You are power tripping on this one. All that information you are thumping? Read over the guys post, he looked. And it led him down false roads which only compounded the issue. Then he reached out for help here and got a shrug. He was correct, not a single post prior to your one about custom collections (after you banned him) addressed his issue.

Ya, his language may not have been called for, but as soon as it was commented on it stopped. His clarifying his position and frustration after his attempts to get help were not "continued attitude". The ban was uncalled for, and the help after the fact was insult to injury. This kind of thing just makes the community look bad. You want to moderate? Moderate yourself, because you overreacted here, and a user looking for help paid the price.
