I have retropie 3.6 running on a raspberry pi 2 and I just bought a pi 3. Can I just take the SD card out of the pi 2 and put it in the 3 without any changes?

      Thanks

@rbaker I just got my Pi3 and tried swapping the card and all I got was a screen that had a lot of colors on it. It never booted an OS. I put the card back in my 2 and it worked fine. Any thoughts?

@taa800 I did just that and no issues for me. The images you download are for the pi2 and pi3. What power supply are you using? To run a pi3, you need a supply rated at 2.5A

              This was my order....

              Shut down the system correctly.
              Remove SD card
              Replace Pi
              Insert SD card.

I don't know what else to suggest other than looking at the LED indicators. Are they showing a boot sequence? What display? I'm not using HDMI, maybe something to look at there. You mention that you are stuck on the Rainbow Screen. Have a look at....https://www.raspberrypi.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=55464

              Good Luck!
