Can I just add Motion blue 6 to my existing setup or visa versa rather than start over?
-
Is Motionblue 6 just scripts and scrapes added to Retropie? Can I use any theme I want with Motionblue or is it a theme itself and I have to use that one look? I already have my roms on an external USB stick and some of them have bezels and shaders setup with RetroArch. I also have all my video snaps already scraped. Can I just manage things from here with Motionblue scripts (like to add collections and shared bezels) or does MB do custom things with folder and file locations, etc.

@flightrisk 3rd party images aren't supported here. Use the official image.

Ah, so this is not considered an add-on to Retropie, but a separate thing and we shouldn't talk about it on this forum?
Separate to that, but using it just to mention some amazing features it has, would there be any talk to incorporate them into the "official" build, or develop similar functionality at part of Retropie? In particular things like automating applying bezels and removing menu items for roms that don't exist in your collection and having collections of all versions of a rom on a menu (like Donkey Kong on all the platforms) seem like great features.

A whole image filled with ROMs and can hardly be considered an add-on.

This ability exists already in RetroPie, you just need to add your overlays.
removing menu items for roms that don't exist in your collection
That's automatically done by Emulationstation - if the ROM doesn't exist on disk, it's not shown.

That can be done using Custom Collections in Emulationstation.

2 tools can do that:
- the one by meleu: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/9686/rpie-art-easy-way-to-install-art-on-your-retropie
- my own: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/17255/fast-and-cross-platform-retropie-arcade-roms-manager-gui
I just happen to have included the latest MotionBlue image overlays in my repositories.

You just need a theme that supports custom collections, and create these yourself.
It's just impossible to do that automatically across systems: in arcade it would theorically be possible since there are standard names, but not for the other systems. You can name your Donkey Kong NES rom "Young Mario vs Big Gorilla" if you want, how can the system know it's Donkey Kong ?
