    Would it be possible to have retropie emulate an actual Neo Geo MVS?

      I'm asking since I was thinking if an arcade owner had a bad MVS board and wanted to replace it with a raspberry pi with retropie. Could he make where the retropie would respond as actual MVS machine?

        @redbatman Given that this forum has countless posts about people creating their own arcade stands with RetroPie in it, I'd say that's entirely possible.

          FBA emulates the Neo Geo flawlessly from what I can tell. A model 3 B+ with stock speeds will give new life to an arcade cabinet :)

          You can also get a perfect 15KHz RGB picture with certain accessories so I really don't see a downside to such a setup.

              I mean like could the set up it to exactly run like a Neo Geo cab, you know switch between game carts and such?

                @redbatman Why would it need to switch between cards ? Just start the game from Emulationstation and that's it. Disable the hotkey so it would not be possible to exit the game, wire the buttons and a coins acceptor and it should look like a real arcade.

                  @mitu Well for example if they had like a 4 slot MVS system, could they enable that through retropie to switch games like an actual MVS.

                    No, a Raspberry Pi can be used to emulate a NeoGeo MVS, but it's not a component that can be plugged in an existing - real - MVS. How does game switching on a MVS works ?

                      @redbatman if you want it to act like a real mvs multi-cart board you just need to make a theme that emulates it. You can make it not show the actual game list and just boot full screen videos. You can have it boot into the gamelist in emulationstation now instead of the system select screen. After you setup your controls normally so it creates other control configs like ones needed for retroarch then in es_settings.cfg manually change the down direction to the game switch button. Or have them both be the down button. Put the up on the joystick to a non existing button numer like 30.

                        @edmaul69 Huh Interesting. Well thanks for that just curious. Since if possible it would be nice to see an arcade pop up somewhere with retropies in them. It would be a cheap alternative and pretty cost effective way to earn money.

                          I am pretty sure that the emulator license agreements don't allow this.

                            @redbatman Also, highly illegal. Don't.

                              @mitu Well true. I guess it'd be cool at a free event like MAG Fest. I was there this year, it was awesome.

                                I remember reading fba (actually a fork called fba-rr including recording tools) is the recommended emulator for neogeo speedrun, because of its accuracy.
