Apparently this is a bug in Raspbian kernel 4.4.

it worked for me.

So attach a keyboard and lan, and hit F4 when you get to the config screen. Run below commands.

curl 'http://pastebin.com/raw/e2ZKSMr1' -o 'patched_rpi-update.sh' -L -B
tr -d '\015' < patched_rpi-update.sh > ./patched_rpi-update
sudo chmod +x ./patched_rpi-update
sudo ./patched_rpi-update 771a503cfc2a1130e2df2a4ddfc45ffa0f592b3f

If all goes well do a reboot "sudo reboot" and your controller should now accept buttons being pressed.

Thanks for this. I have three of these controllers and was going to do a little digging later this evening. Now I can play some 'Retro City Rampage 486' instead.

I dont know how to set up ports but for this game i am willing to learn. Which version do i need to buy? Do i need the floppy disk version or rcr dx for pc, mac, linux, ms-dos? And then do i run the linux or ms-dos version? I really want to play this through retropie if possible but am clueless on how to

I bought the 486 edition with the intent that it can be played on any reasonably capable platform where DOSBox is an option. That being said, you give up a fair bit of the the city-wide artwork, as well as the amazing chiptunes available in the full versions. Aside from those concessions, the core game play is fully intact.

I've played through the full version before on Wii and it immediately became a favorite of mine. I assume the full Linux version can be made to run on RetroPie in some way, but I wouldn't be able to actually verify that. I can say however, that the 486 version

using the traditional methods. I even have it configured to launch automatically from Emulation Station with a script. If you should choose to go the 486 rout, I'll post it if need be.

Edit: The video shows game play on an RPi2. I have an RPi3 and the performance with this title is a significant improvement.

@mediamogul i went ahead and bought the 486 floppy version and the linux, pc, ms dos version. I want to make sure i have the correct version. I dont have a desktop or a floppy drive but i have access to them but i think the ms dos version is the same. So if i have any questions setting up? can i ask you? I am really clueless on how to do it.

Sure, it's not a problem. You don't have to use the floppy disk though, as a downloadable copy will also be made available when you redeem your Steam key. As I recall, the way it works is that you'll have access to all the full versions of the game. Once you download it through Steam onto your Windows, Mac or Linux machine, it will include something akin to an 'extras' folder and the DOS executable will just be sitting there. If you have any trouble setting it up, just give me a shout.

@mediamogul so i have the folder with all the files including the ones from the install disc and i change directory to /home/pi/RtroPie/roms/pc/rom_city_rampage and i type this:

mount c /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/pc/rom_city_rampage

then i get this:

mount: special device c does not exist

i am following a guide online for installing dos games and this is what it tells me to do but i get this error

Well, I made launch scripts for several of my DOS games that needed it, but I forgot that for this game, I just launch the RCR.EXEstraight from the Emulation Station menu. After that, DOSBox just loads it automatically. I don't think I had to set anything else for it to launch, but if it doesn't work for you, we'll give it a further look see in the light of day tomorrow.

@mediamogul yeah i see it in es but when i click on it it shows a blinking cursor then goes back to the game menu. I even set permissions to see if that was a problem

I can't say for sure until I look at my ~/.dosbox/dosbox-SVN.conf file tomorrow, but I seem to remember giving it more ram in the settings.
