8bitdo NES30 Pro Hotkeys not working (Firmware 1.70 Beta 5)
-
I just got a Raspberry Pi and setup RetroPie. I used a generic SNES clone pad for setup and all the keys worked, even the hot keys. I got a 8bitdo NES30 Pro pad and once I moved to 4.0 beta 2, the settings for the pad not stay (they kept reverting). I have yet to get the hot keys working on that controller. The hot keys worked on the clone pad, but not the NES30 Pro. If I plug in the clone controller ONLY it works (hotkeys), but not with the NES30 Pro connected by bluetooth.
I have removed all the joystick .cfg files and let them rebuild, didn't help....
Any advice?

Try using firmware 1.68 with the NES30 Pro and re-adding the controller in Emulation Station.
You may need to re-register the controller when you change the firmware. If there are still issues, post your controller files on pastebin.com from
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads

1.69 works you need to downgrade to that. I have 3 of them running on 1.69. They didnt work on 1.68 for me.

I just wanted to threw out there that I am also using 1.69 for a while now on an NES30 Pro and an FC30 Pro.
I'm not sure if these two will work together but they appear to work on their own.

Tried 1.69, no go. As soon as I disconnect BT device, the generic SNES pad I have has working hot keys again....

Its 1.68 that should work. Please see post above - of it doesnt please let us know.

Same thing for 1.68

Can you post up your controller file generated via ES when you had 1.68?
Please put on pastebin.comYou can find the file here:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/
Can you post this info up?

I'm using a Pi Model B. I downloaded the image from RetroPi and applied and went forward to the latest beta. Before the beta, I got this issue so I thought moving up might help. I also moved up the entire OS as well (didn't help).
again, the only issue is the hotkeys working on this controller: 8bitdo NES30 Pro

@drduranduran Your files look right for firmware 1.68 - as you say they work fine.
So if its just the hotkeys that arent working, does that mean you have altered this file?
opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
Your controller file has the right hotkey detail in it - assuming you are running RetroArch.

@Floob said in 8bitdo NES30 Pro Hotkeys not working (Firmware 1.70 Beta 5):
opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg
I didn't manually modify any files.... Is there a way to reset the entire RetroPie and not disturb the ROM folders? I don't mind taking it back to stock settings.
Thanks for the help....

Nevermind, I burnt it all down. On RetroPie 4.0 RC1 using NES30 Pro Firmware 1.7 Beta 5 and now the hotkeys are working. Thanks for the assist anyways...
