What's your "Hidden Gem"? Game discussion

@loggahead Same here, I only learned about EAR last year since my recurred passion for arcade games led me to reading and watching everything about the topic. :) I didn't play it yet, but it definitely looks gorgeous and like fun.
-
@loggahead I just tried E.A.R. in MAME. I love it! It's a much better Elevator Action than ... well ... Elevator Action! :)
SaGa Frontier for the Playstation was a very good RPG yet very, very few seem to remember it even existed.

Just like Crazy Climber 2 is much better than Crazy Climber 1 with no apparent drawbacks other than the latter's historical value.

I don't think these games are super popular, but they are some of my favorite PS1 games that no one talks about:
Shipwreckers (Good multiplayer too!)
The Legend of Dragoon
Vandal Hearts
Future Cop LAPD (Also has fun Co-op + VS) -
"Snatcher" on SEGA CD.
-
@jonnykesh YES Snatcher is also a great one, Hideo Kojima worked on it!
-
@madmodder123 Legend of Dragoon is a great game. :)
Not many people I know have seen the Gargoyles cartoon from the mid-90's and even less seemed to have played the Gargoyles game on the Sega Genesis. I loved playing as Goliath and it wasn't some easy kids game!

I have and I love it. :D I like its dark and somewhat (for a children's series) mature atmosphere, and also the many real legends they slipped in, even if more or less distorted.

Amazonia on ps1 is a great game that I just discovered recently.
-
@space-cadet Is that an auto-correct error? from what I can find on psxdatacenter.com Amazonia is not a game for ps1
-
Yeah typo at work. Amerzone ps1 point n click game.
-
Bruce Lee - Sega Master System - Homebrew
a remake of the old Commodore 64 & Spectrum game
-
Gameboy Advance: Alien Hominid
-
I don't know if I would count this as a "Hidden Gem" for say, but it is a game that is no realty known.
Knuckles Chaotix.
I love knuckles chaotix. For me it is a great game. I am a bit annoyed at the tethering mechanic, but I can live with it.

Haven't tried either game. Will have to check them out during my next gaming session. :)
Pressure Cooker for the Atari 2600 is one of my personal favorites from my youth. Played that game for HOURS.

2600 games are among my most favorite games in general and for whatever reason, this is an Activision title that has escaped me. The graphics look fantastic and the straightforward nature of the game play reminds me of a good Game & Watch game. I'll have to try this out later tonight.

Mine as well. I grew up on Atari 2600, Intellivision and TI99 4/a games! :)
I really do understand the hype behind Pitfall. It was a HUGE game that played well. But, for my money, I would choose Pressure Cooker every time. I've always just been weird that way. :)

If you like cinematic platformers (oddworld, another world, flashback) then Heart of darkness (ps1) is a great hidden gem.

So for DOS my little bro and I played Wacky Wheels shareware which I found on my local BBS because we couldnt afford a SNES when they first came out. Finally bought the full version as an adult.
Also for DOS I loved Death Gate. It's a magic user trying to click through puzzles kind of like Teen Agent(love it too!) and Journeyman Project (awesome!) but less cartoony and more in depth. I found it very challenging and fun with a simple but fun plot/story.
Not sure how popular it is or was, as I didn't own a PS1 but Tetris Plus is Soo much fun for two players and most people seem to not have heard of it. It's very casual and has Bob the Builder's brother in it as a treasure Hunter ( or that's what we call him ) who you have to help reach the bottom and not get trapped on your Tetris tiles.
-
@thedatacereal Oooooh Wacky Wheels!
I wonder if that'll run on the Pi with DOSBox. Anyone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
