[SOLVED] 4.4 with mame2003 - A and B buttons are mapped together
-
Hi just did a new install of 4.4 and copied my old roms/cfg files over from my 4.3 setup. My only current issue is with mame2003 roms (all), for whatever reason the A button will trigger both the A and B mappings at the same time (e.g. Contra jump and fire are one button). The normal mapped B button works as jump fine, it's just the A button does both actions. Switching to advmame1.4 is fine for these games.
It's my same retroarch.cfg file that I copied over from 4.3, I've combed through it and nothing is duplicate. I am using Ultimarc MiniPAC for the controls (keyboard). I do have a logitech joypad as well but it's not connected (but controls are mapped).
I'm missing something very basic...

Have you checked the MAME 2003 button configurations? It is possible to assign 2 buttons to one function. Start a game, and hit TAB to get into the config. Then scroll down to Player 1 Button 1 and check. If you see .... then there are multiple buttons assigned. Hit Return on your keyboard and press whichever button you want to be A. then scroll down again. After that hit TAB again and it should be ok if that was the problem.

Doug I'm an id10t thanks man. I figured since I replaced all .cfg files from my working setup there would be no duplicate mappings... I only have a couple games I use 2003 for (I can't seem to get punchout screen size right in adv-mame).

We all miss things. That’s why being on this forum is great. If one of us misses something, someone else will pick it up
