I have a couple of questions for the williams arcade games

      • is there a way to skip rom check when launching the rom?
      • is there a way to set the credits to be unlimited?
      • is there a way to fix the game not exiting to emulation station on start+select?

I'm afraid not. They have to go through their routines to boot, just like under original conditions.

is there a way to set the credits to be unlimited?

Some games can be set to free play in their service menus.

is there a way to fix the game not exiting to emulation station on start+select?

They should always exit out to Emulation Station. What is the exact behavior you're seeing? Also, to help you here, you'll need to provide the information detailed at https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

I'm fact both mame2003 and mame 2003-plus have core options to ignore the CRC check.

Someone requested this feature and then disappeared after I implemented it. No one knows if the feature works but this might be when we find out.

OP, are you trying to use hacked romsets? We (meaning the mame2003-plus developers) could really benefit if someone will tell us more about these alleged hacked mame romsets and if someone would test them in the mame2003 cores.

@mediamogul thankyou the exiting out to emulation station just doesn't work at all.
it just doesn't do anything but start a new game since I have coin slot and player start on the start button.

@markwkidd I don't know where to look for the mame 2003 options is it in the menu when I boot romsets?
also I am not hacking the romsets I just downloaded them and dropped them into the arcade folder and selected mame 2003 emulator to run them

@shadowblitz16 unless you are intentionally using a hacked romset then you should not need to bypass the CRC check -- it's too bad you can't teach me about hacked sets though :)

In the absence of hacked sets you should be using the right version mame romset for the core and the CRC check won't affect you. Please say more if I am not understanding your scenario though.

@markwkidd so then I am using a hacked romset?
I didn't know I just downloaded it and placed it in the arcade folder.

I am using the williams arcade defender red label romset for mame.

@Shadowblitz16 thanks for bearing with me, I'm mobile today. This may sound like more work than it will really be, but you need a romset collection that exactly matches mame2003. The good news is that compatible collections are very easy to find.

Have you read the Arcade getting started

@markwkidd I skimmed over it, but I thought they couldn't supply roms?

The gist of the Getting Started guide for Arcade is that users need to 1) pick your arcade emulator and then 2) you find the exact romsets designed for that emulator version

Your emulator is mame2003 and it will only work with a MAME 0.78 collection. If you have a MAME 0.78 romset collection you will not get CRC errors and the games will, generally, play.

The MAME 0.78 romset collection is very easy to find on the internet. No Dark Web required, just a search engine :)
