latest retropie udate - new retroarch, game remaps changed
-
I noticed retroarch now has the new blue PS3 background theme. Went to play all the fighters... mk, street fighter, and so on. Button assignments are all changed. Not loading previous remaps. Any way to revert to the old remap files, not sure why the devs would do that... as I'm sure not only me... have LOTS of remap files for specific games. Also game remaps ARE NOT loading when starting a game. New settings? anyone else experiencing this?
Better yet is there anyway I can revert back to the previous retroarch? -
@drewjbx Yes, the new RetroArch version has a redesign input mapping system and old remap files don't work in the new version. The XMB interface ('blue PS3 background theme') though is not new and it's probably something you configured, the default in RetroPie is still the RGUI menu interface.
If you want to revert to the old version, then you can modify the RetroArch package script and pull an older version (1.7.1 was the one before the update), then re-build from source. Note that any modifications to the default scripts will make the RetroPie-Script update error out when you'll next try to update the script. -
@mitu will try to make this work... example, I launch FBA... retroarch auto creates retroarch.cfg in the fba/configs directory. This file has save location set as
- input_remapping_directory = "~/.config/retroarch/config/remaps"
I tried to change the remap save location to
- input_remapping_directory = "/opt/retropie/configs/fba/" but retroarch modifies file and reverts the location back.
In other words when I save core remap file during gameplay... once I quit and restart the controls are gone, its not loading.

@drewjbx How do you modify the
input_remapping_directory
? Do you change it in the .cfg file forfba
or from the RetroArch RGUI ? -
@mitu notepad ++... cfg file. Might just try to revert retroarch, seems challenging for the non tech saavy tho. Or just remap over about 80 remap files
