      Each installed game or an emulator should have 3 .desktop files, one for Desktop (/home/pi/Desktop), one for the Menu (/usr/share/applications) and one on the same folder where the executable is.

      This make things easier to newbies and more people may use retropie, also like a tool to configure a complete system like raspbian with X.

        Its a good idea but the emulators are called through emulationstation with runcommand which has system specific configs that you don't get when calling standalone emulators. RetroPie is designed to be used through the emulationstation frontend for that reason.
