      The site is called:
      https://emulation.ninja

Here is the Sega Genesis section:
      https://emulation.ninja/games/GENESIS

The site has a huge repository of emulation information and media.

Think of it as a cross between Twitch/YoutubeGaming/Plex created specifically for emulation.

      It will include:

      • Game information
      • Soundtracks
      • Preview Videos
      • Full Play through videos
      • Ability to play your games from any computer (it works like Plex, there is no piracy / illegal downloading of roms etc.).

All content is hosted on the cloud by us, we don't rely on 3rd party services such as Youtube / dropbox because files / videos can go up and down and we won't be a reliable repository if we don't have our own custom solutions.

We're going to grow this site into a huge community and need administrators for forums, and content curation.

We also have an app that works with retroarch.

Think of it as a cloud-based front-end on steroids. The app is super simple to use and you can see a demo of how it works here:

Download the app from the link below:

      https://emulation.ninja/downloads

In order to use the app you need to create a free account at

      https://emulation.ninja/user/signup

We have 20 free beta signups:

@talbot 1st post on the forum and it's self promotional spam. Well done.
What has this got to do with RetroPie? Oh yes, nothing.
          Post reported as spam.

@jonnykesh Eh, it's in General Discussion, but....it is essentially advertisement for a position on another service. In this case, some Emulation site.

Definitely think this post would have gotten a better response if it was worded differently. Like, "Hey guys check out my website I am proud of", when it's more of a "Hey guys sign up for my website".

@piboy I suppose you're right in that it is in the "general discussion" area.
Just something about the whole tone of the post rubbed me up the wrong way. That and the fact it is their 1st and only post.
It's self promotional spam in my view, others might see it a bit differently.

It is, and it might be the only post here. I see it as a combination of Webtropie and RetroArch (which probably this site uses underneath since RA has a web frontend).

It seems like this could be pretty handy even if just a proof of concept for robust cloud storage for ROMs and saves.

I think there is a market for a service like Plex that let's me make progress on my 16 bit RPG via a web player while I'm on the go and then have the same ROM and savestate data waiting on my home emulation system at the end of the day. Users ask for this kind of functionality regularly from retroarch (although I understand this is a new frontend under the hood)

Plex has done a lot to propel open source development for embedded and low power systems. Here's hoping that either directly or by inspiration this leads to cloud storage services integrated with emulation fronteds in general 😀

Pay some "revolutionary" cloud people to take care of my saves? Nah, thanks, I'll just spend that minute-and-a-half plugging in and transferring manually.

Using pre-manufactured USB controllers -- Pish Posh, Bosh, and Hieronymus! I just design and fabricate my own controllers like a true man! I built my own ARM chip and then fabricated my own PCB to rpi spec. Etc. etc.

I have to say it's fascinating that if someone develops and sells new hardware specifically for retrogaming there is rarely a reaction like this unless there is a theft of intellectual property. If someone comes up with a new piece of software or software service and wants to charge for that, everyone is a critic.

Edit: I'm unfollowing this topic before it raises my blood pressure for no reason. I'll track their project somewhere else :)

Designing ARM chips vs connecting things via a cable and pressing a button? A real quality comparison, this. But hey, it's teh internets. One's expectations should be kept at a minimum, I guess.

I have as much right to criticise something as much as you have to be supportive of it. It's the necessary balance in public discourse. And if you feel so strongly about it that you need to throw dislikes around and insta-ragequit the moment somebody voices opinion not to your liking, then perhaps it's indeed time to get some fresh air.

I dislike your post and I think in terms of community its toxic when people respond to a new idea with insta-disdain and macho "I can build better myself."

Don't take it personally unless you want to, or assume that the only posts I dislike are the ones involve instant rage. I am glad to keep talking about why I think this trend is toxic for indie developers and for emulation forums if you're interested.

I've unfollowed the thread, as I said. I didn't set the thread to ignore when someone mentions me. What's up?

Edit: While I'm here let me give this post some content. The developers of this website/platform are doing some Q&A with RetroArch developers here: https://forums.libretro.com/t/we-just-created-a-new-web-based-front-end-for-retroarch/16265

Oh I missed that part about cloud backup for saves. That is a handy feature! I am a big proponent of backing up saved games to the cloud.
