So why does upgrading to RetroPie 4 beta 2 from 3.8 wipe all my configs?
-
I've just updated from 3.8 to 4beta2. All my configs for controllers, retroarch core setups, Amiga configs etc have been wiped. Any idea why this has happened? Back to 3.8, thank goodness I made a backup.
-
It shouldn't. I need more detail to be able to see what went wrong (eg configs from
/opt/retropie/configs/all
before and after upgrade if you can reproduce it)There are a few cases where configs may still get overwritten (I am fixing them up when I notice), but libretro stuff shouldn't.
-
I think uae4all may well overwrite config as we didn't yet symlink the folders to the config area - there is a ticket open for this. I will look into that now.
-
I have reverted a change that removed the emulator install folder on upgrade. I had forgotten about uae4all when I implemented this, and until all the emulators have their configs moved I will need to keep this. This should solve the Amiga configs issue, but I will be moving the configs etc to
/opt/retropie/configs/amiga/uae4all
the reason the install folder was removed, was to avoid issues where we get left over files after emulator changes - once all configs are symlinked elsewhere, it should be sage to put this back again.

Buzz, thanks for the input. I've just updated to 4beta2 again and the issue has not happened again. weird, but all is good now.
Andysorry for coming across badly in my original post, didn't mean to be rude!
