"network error" windows cannot access \\RETROPIE
-
@thedatacereal
yes i enable ssh..... did everything right when try to connect to winscp says Host name "name" is not existed .... cant connect......
-
@jborges That error sounds like you tried to connect to \retropie. In winSCP use the IP address of the Pi.
-
does the EAZY HAX TOOLKIT has something to do with this ? any interference ? i expand my Retropie memory to USB using the Toolkit following everything , the files on my usb opens fine and the Retropie files was still opening all fine via LAN, and all of sudden this happend and never come back to normal
-
@thedatacereal
got it i use the ip adress of the pi like you said, now it connects via winscp, so everytime i want to access my PI files like i used to via Lan network , i will have to use winscp until my Lan works again??
and in case i cant connect on winscp always check the SSH enable right.... -
@jborges SSH shouldn't disable itself so you're good on that.
-
On Winscp i seen that cant access/find my Gameslists folder either my xml files and my rom Images like i do on Retropie Via LAN , is that right???? so winscp is like a temporary Access option to the retropie like the roms folder in specific ?!?!?
-
@jborges gamelists are in
/home/pi/.emulationstation
You may need to enable hidden folders in WinSCP
-
I find it ..thanks man.. so i guess winscp is my new way ACCESS to retropie files.. but if works thats what metters thank you.

@jborges said in "network error" windows cannot access \\RETROPIE:
yes i did \RETROPIE .....always worked before
but what about
\\RETROPIE
?//retropie
Syntax? Are you actually typing it in correctly? with the correct number of characters as your posts seem to change.
-
@rbaker I don't know how his is, but when I type \\retropie on my phone and submit my post, it removes the first '\' and makes it look like \retropie.

Hey, seemed best to renew this thread as it's the #1 thread found on Google for this issue:
I'm also having this problem and it's quite vexing. I used to be able to type this in File Explorer and have it work fine (it's even there as a quick link under Network, but doesn't work any longer. I can easily get to the system by typing the static IP it's on: 192.168.1.41. File Explorer instantly connects to it, so does Filezilla and Putty, but typing the hostname doesn't work.
C:\WINDOWS\system32>ping 192.168.1.41 Pinging 192.168.1.41 with 32 bytes of data: Reply from 192.168.1.41: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.41: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.41: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Reply from 192.168.1.41: bytes=32 time<1ms TTL=64 Ping statistics for 192.168.1.41: Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss), Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds: Minimum = 0ms, Maximum = 0ms, Average = 0ms
I'll be darned if I can figure out how you guys highlight stuff in red to be able to type the double-slash, but that's what I type.
