need help with gameshark and gamegenie on retropie

ok so i just installed retropie to my RPI 2B+ and im using the default gameboy gameboy color and gameboy advance emulators how do i get cheat codes like game genie and gameshark to work on these emulators is there a guide or something?

Edit: He has a custom binding to bring up the Rgui, but by default it's just Select+X

They seem to work for everything but GBA games. Has anyone else managed to get cheats working with lr-gpSP or lr-vba-next?
