I'm thinking of my next project: a casual console style build and hiding it a few Sega master system cases.

I was wondering is it possible to wire something up so I can use original Sega and Ninendo controllers? I guess plugging in a controller for each system would be cool... It would be great to get the original feel. Does anyone have any suggestions?

You can, there are several options available

        • Use a Gameblock - https://blog.petrockblock.com
        • Use a Raphnet adapter for the controller and connect it via USB (https://www.raphnet-tech.com/products.php)
        • Connect the controller over GPIO to the Pi - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/GPIO-Modules/
        • Get an 8Bit mod kit (https://shop.8bitdo.com) and a BT/Wireless receiver and mod your original controller.

I'm sure there are other methods.

@mattyl42 the 2600-daptor can do them all. There is a mode for the atari flashback 1 controllers which internally is an nes controller with a 9 pin dsub cable. You can rewire the nes controller or make an adapter to go from 9 pin dsub to nes connector. If you are in the u.s. i could even make the controller mod for you. I even have the cable taken from a flashback 1 joystick that i could use for it. And i have nes controllers lying around.

Thanks for the replies gents- I'm in the UK so it would be to far to post. I will have a think... on which way to go. One thing I didn't check are the new classic nes and mega drive variants the same and on Usb?
