I Searched but Can't Find Solutio - Genesis 6-Button Not Working
-
Ok, I searched everywhere and found no solution for this that explains what exactly to do.
I setup my NES & SNES controllers just fine. I use them to get to the menu in RetroPie to setup a 6-Button Genesis controller.
RetroPie sees it and accepts all of my inputs, but naturally the 6-button layout doesn't exist.
I tried the instructions here to go into the config (lr-picodrive) while running a Genesis game using Select+X:
https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Genesis-Megadrive
That doesn't work because when I'm in the Genesis game (I tested w/ Altered Beast), Select+X on the SNES pad does nothing. I have no Select on my Genesis but I do have a "Mode" button I set to Select. The Genesis pad doesn't bring up this menu either.
On top of all of this, I can't even start the game w/ the Start button on my Genesis pad. I used my NES just fine to start, but when I picked up the Genesis pad, NOTHING worked. No D-Pad, no buttons. Nothing.
I have no idea how lr-picodrive reacts to nothing in game, but in the RetroPie menu the controller sets up just fine.
If anyone was successful, can you please post what you did or at least your config files for copy/paste?
Thank You!

Well I answered my own damn question with the easiest of solutions!! LOL
I'll leave this dumb post up for anyone else yanking their hair out in the same situation.
I had all 3 controllers plugged into my Pi. NES, SNES & Genesis....Unplug all but Genesis. That's it. Genesis controller seems to need to be alone on port #0. Once I did that, in-game it worked smooth as anything.
Now to figure out why my Sonic rom has a little dude in a robot ship instead of Sonic on the screen! WTF lolol
