(Solved) Can't install Kodi after uninstall
-
Hello,
Today I encountered a bug in Kodi which removed some text from a few elements.
I tried running the Kodi installer from the Retropie-Setup script which didn't fix the issue.
So instead I opted to reinstall Kodi. After uninstalling from the Retropie-Setup script I tried to install Kodi again, but I can't.
Retropie is telling me that Kodi is already the latest version and that a dependency can't be installed at all.
I have also tried to use apt-get to uninstall Kodi and checked that there is no folders left behind.Any help is greatly appreciated!
Here is the RPS log:

You have a lot of extra repositories for
apt
installed and some of have a conflicting Kodi version. Remove/disable any extra repositories and leave only the ones hosted onhttp://mirrordirector.raspbian.org
, then try to run the install step. -
Hello,
I tired doing as you suggest and this is what my "sources.list" looks like now:deb http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi # Uncomment line below then 'apt-get update' to enable 'apt-get source' #deb-src http://archive.raspbian.org/raspbian/ jessie main contrib non-free rpi #deb http://archive.itimmer.nl/raspbian/moonlight jessie main
But I still get the following error when trying to install Kodi:

@son_of_diablo You still have the same list of repositories configured. Check the
/etc/apt/sources.list.d
folder and remove any repository sources you have there. -
This post is deleted! -
I didn't know that folder was a thing.
I have removed all the files in the folder, but still, it seems like there is an issue with kodi-bin:Log started at: Thu 16 Aug 13:51:55 UTC 2018 RetroPie-Setup version: 4.4.2 (30e9c4a) System: Linux retropie 4.9.35-v7+ #1014 SMP Fri Jun 30 14:47:43 BST 2017 armv7l GNU/Linux = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Installing dependencies for 'kodi' : Kodi - Open source home theatre software = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Installing 'kodi' : Kodi - Open source home theatre software = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = = Hit http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie InRelease Get:1 http://pipplware.pplware.pt ./ InRelease [2,070 B] Hit http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/main armhf Packages Hit http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/contrib armhf Packages Get:2 http://pipplware.pplware.pt ./ Packages [128 kB] Hit http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/non-free armhf Packages Hit http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/rpi armhf Packages Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/contrib Translation-en_GB Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/contrib Translation-en Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/main Translation-en_GB Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/main Translation-en Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/non-free Translation-en_GB Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/non-free Translation-en Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/rpi Translation-en_GB Ign http://mirrordirector.raspbian.org jessie/rpi Translation-en Ign http://pipplware.pplware.pt ./ Translation-en_GB Ign http://pipplware.pplware.pt ./ Translation-en Fetched 130 kB in 11s (11.0 kB/s) Reading package lists... Do I have to do something to refresh the repos that it uses?
Every time I try to install Kodi from the RetroPie-Setup script, "pipplware.list" gets added to "sources.list.d"
The file contains the following:deb http://pipplware.pplware.pt/pipplware/dists/jessie/main/binary/ ./
-
This post is deleted! -
The
pipleware
repo is added by the install script. The error you're getting now is because the downloaded package failed the unpacking:[...] dpkg-deb (subprocess): decompressing archive member: internal gzip read error: '<fd:4>: incorrect data check' dpkg-deb: error: subprocess <decompress> returned error exit status 2 [...]
Run an
apt-get clean
and then re-try the installation. -
That did the trick!
Thanks for taking the time to help me out! I'm still trying to learn my way around linux ^^
