I have an ES collection featuring these games. Some that haven't been mentioned already are:
'Ready Player One' (2018) - 'Adventure'
'TRON Legacy' (2010) - 'TRON'
'War Games' (1983) - 'Galaga'
'The Wizard' (1989) - Super Mario Brothers 3'
'Joysticks' (1983) - 'Super Pac-Man' (...and just about every other arcade game from the era)
'Midnight Madness' (1980) - 'Star Fire'

Goofy combination of Rush, Missile Command (Atari) and a real time countdown of a missile strike in Chuck (Season 2, ep5)
I'm a total Rush head!!! :) Thanks for this!

Stranger Things (S02E01) - Dragon's Lair (Cinematronics)
-
Black Mirror (S03E04) - Bubble Bobble (Taito)
-
The Goldbergs (S01E21) - Zaxxon, Dragon's Lair, Punch-Out and others
-
Bloodsport, JCVD and Donald Gibb play, I believe it's Karate Champ?

Ahh... Good one! I just watched that again last month. I should've thought of it.

Also, don't think there's a full clip of either of the scenes but they use Point Blank in The Spy Who Dumped Me, you see it a bit in the trailer

One of my favourite horror movies, maximum overdrive. The only film ever directed by Stephen King himself!
-
and while we're on it. Let's mention the legend himself Mr Hulk Hogan! Suburban Commando....
-
Ninja 3: The Domination (1984) - Bouncer
(at 1:55)
There's an interesting story behind this game: the cabinet used in the movie was actually a prototype but the actual game was never released due to financial difficulties. Thus, Ninja 3 ended up being the only proof of its existence, together with another video
So yeah, like a real Polybius, minus the subliminal messages
-
The Big Bang Theory S8E7 (2014) – Asteroids (Atari) and Donkey Kong (Nintendo)
-
Not as old as some of the others, but in Friends - The One with Monica's Thunder (2000) Chandler plays Crash Team Racing.
-
hackers (1995) has wipeout, but it's really some sort of prototype/pre-render thing:
reign over me (2007) features shadow of the colossus throughout:
-
Rumble in the Bronx (1996), a Sega Game Gear, with no game.
-
@celly That could be a whole new thread: Movies/tvshows where they act like they are playing a game, but it's clearly impossible. I saw a Dutch movie (bro's before ho's) where they were pointing the Nes zapper at an lcd tv, acting like it actually worked.
-
@bobharris i remember watching an episode of the original show Roseanne (on purpose) and they had got a video game system. It was horrible watching bad actors, pretend to be playing what was probably a SNES.
-
City Hunter (1993) – Street Fighter II (Capcom)
There's no gameplay shown apart from the character selection menu, but the whole scene is one great homage to the game.
-
@johnodon They are not playing NHL 94. They're complaining about NHL 94 while playing NHLPA 93. The key giveaway is "the blood coming out of Gretzky's head". NHL 94 removed all fighting from the game.
