Clone SD Card to New Rasberry Pi 3
-
I was wondering if a fully working SD card can be cloned to a different raspberry pie? I have mine working correctly and would like to build one for my sister. Instead of doing everything again, can I just clone the SD card somehow and throw it in the new system? I realize I would have to pair the new controller and change the MAC address in the file the auto-connects, but was hoping everything else could be transferred.

@Spyderturbo007 If you are a Mac user, you can use the SD Clone app to copy your complete Raspberry Pi system to another SD Card for backup and sharing. Test this with the free trial version and let us know how it works. - SD Clone

Unfortunately, I'm not a Mac guy.

Thanks herb_fargus.
Will the backup article you linked to allow me to clone the image onto a new SD card and throw that in a different Raspberry Pi? I'm putting one together for my sister and that would make my life much easier.

@Spyderturbo007 in theory. Stipulation is the other sd card has to be exactly the same (at least memory wise) and it has to be the same version of pi (pi2/pi3) or (pi0/pi1)

For any Mac users who happen upon this later through a search, ApplePi Baker is a popular and completely free alternative.
